Apex Legends Movement Tips High Kills Players Never Skip

Tap strafes, wall bounces and superglides are trained inputs, not talent. Here is the drill order that makes them show up when a squad is beaming you.

Watch any high-kill stream and the movement looks improvised. It is not. Every redirect, bounce and glide in that clip is a trained input with a fixed sequence behind it, and the gap between you and that player is drill time, not talent. These Apex Legends movement tips high kills players rely on break down the exact mechanics, the order to learn them, and the moment each one belongs in a fight.

The Apex Legends Movement Tips High Kills Players Drill First

Speed in Apex is stored, not generated. A slide inherits the velocity you carried into it, and a jump out of that slide keeps most of it. Chain slide into jump into slide down any slope and you hold a speed that sprinting never reaches.

Most players break the chain by holding forward through the slide. The real input is a crouch at the end of a jump, released the instant your feet touch, then crouched again on the next landing. Get that rhythm and your rotations shorten by seconds. Seconds decide who arrives at a fight with cover already taken.

Learn the Chain on a Slope Before Flat Ground

Take the hills outside Fragment or any long descent and run the slide jump chain until you stop losing speed on landings. Flat ground hides your mistakes because the loss per rep is tiny. A slope makes every dropped input obvious in a single run.

Tap Strafing Is a Redirect Tool, Not a Highlight Clip

A tap strafe changes your direction mid-air far past what a normal air strafe allows. It runs on the lurch mechanic Apex inherited from Titanfall, and it needs a forward input bound to your scroll wheel, which keeps it on mouse and keyboard.

The mistake is treating it as a flex. In a real fight it has one job: leaving a door or a ledge on a line the enemy already pre-aimed, then landing somewhere their crosshair is not. Use it on exits, not entries.

Bind It, Then Practise the Exit Line Only

Bind forward to scroll wheel down and drill one pattern only: jump out of a doorway, scroll, and cut ninety degrees behind cover. Ignore the long chained strafes you see in edits. The ninety degree exit is the version that wins ranked fights.

Wall Bounces Turn Dead Ends Into Firing Angles

A wall bounce takes the speed you already carried and redirects it off a vertical surface, which drops you onto a height and angle nobody holds. Inside the buildings on Storm Point and World's Edge that turns a corridor with one entrance into a fight with two.

The input is a slide jump into a wall at a shallow angle, then a jump the instant you make contact. Steep angles kill your speed. Shallow angles keep it, and speed is the entire point of the technique.

Why Your Bounces Land in the Range and Fail in Ranked

Movement breaks under adrenaline long before it breaks under difficulty. GG Clan's Apex ranked specialists sit in your lobby and call the exact moment your inputs go loose, which is feedback no firing range session can give you.

Superglides Are Frame Timing, Not Talent

A superglide is a mantle followed by a jump one frame later, and it launches you forward at a speed no other input produces. The window is tied to your frame rate, which is why a locked, stable frame rate matters more here than raw performance.

Nobody lands it consistently in week one. Players who use it in ranked have run hundreds of reps against the same ledge until the timing lives in their hands. Pick one ledge and stay on it until the input stops being a decision.

Lock Your Frame Rate Before You Drill the Timing

Cap your frame rate at a number your rig holds during a fight, not the number it hits in the lobby. A frame rate that swings mid-fight moves the superglide window on every attempt and buries hundreds of reps of muscle memory.

Punch Boosts and Zipline Redirects Cover the Gaps

A punch boost adds speed to a jump by throwing a melee at the top of the arc, and it costs nothing except the input. Across a long open rotation it saves real time and keeps you out of the ring with your heals intact.

Zipline redirects do the same job vertically. Detach early, air strafe off the line, and you land somewhere the squad watching that zip is not looking. Both techniques cost the least practice time on this page, which makes them the fastest wins available to you tonight.

What Movement Tech Actually Buys You

Movement tech in Apex is not a side game. Every technique here solves one of three problems: arriving first, leaving alive, or landing a fight on an angle the enemy has not pre-aimed.

That framing stops you drilling the wrong thing. A player who chains superglides across an empty map and still dies in every doorway has practised the input without ever practising the decision behind it.

Pro Analysis

Five techniques, and they do not carry equal weight for your rank. The slide jump chain pays out immediately and applies to every rotation you make from your next game onward. Punch boosts and zipline redirects sit right behind it, low cost and useful the first time you try them.

Tap strafing and wall bounces sit in the middle. Both are learnable inside a week of focused reps, and both change how fights end rather than how they start. That is where most Platinum players stall, because they stop drilling the moment the input works once.

Superglides are the honest outlier. The technique is real and top players use it constantly, but the return per hour of practice is the lowest here until everything above it runs without thought. Build in that order and you climb faster.

Here is the ceiling nobody puts in a tutorial. Knowing every technique on this page and executing them while a full squad beams you are two different skills, separated by reps under live pressure. Your firing range time cannot manufacture that pressure.
