The Apex Legends new season battle pass split went live this week, and if you're only checking the cosmetics, you're missing the real story. Season 30, Marked, rewired competitive play: a full Bloodhound rework, real buffs to Loba and Rampart, hard nerfs to Valkyrie and Axle, and a full overhaul of how energy weapons reload. The lobbies you're queuing into do not play like the lobbies from five weeks ago. Here's what changed and how to use the closing Ranked ladder window before the reset.
The Apex Legends New Season Battle Pass Isn't the Point
A new split means a new pass track and fresh cosmetics. That's not what decides whether you climb. Split 2 lands mid-September, and the current Ranked ladder runs a five-day cycle across five windows, the last one closing September 13. That's the deadline that matters. The legend changes, the weapon overhaul, and the map decide who wins the lobbies you're playing right now.
Bloodhound's Rework Turned Them Into a Must-Pick
Bloodhound didn't get a tweak. They got rebuilt. The new ultimate, Allfather's Cloak, cloaks your whole squad, adds a movement speed boost, and grants threat vision for up to twelve seconds, turning a recon legend into a full team engage tool. The passive now paints red trails on enemy clues and extends raven range to four hundred metres. The tactical delivers a full-body scan followed by a string of snapshot scans, so information stacks instead of expiring after one read.
Time the Cloak on Approach, Not in the Fight
Allfather's Cloak wins fights before they start if you time it on the approach, not after contact. Pop it the second your squad is spotted rotating into a building or a canyon choke, and close the gap invisible while the enemy is still calling your last known position.
Loba and Rampart Got Real Buffs. Valkyrie and Axle Got Cut.
This patch has clear winners and clear losers, and ignoring that costs you rank. Loba's tactical equip time dropped and her projectile range grew, while her ultimate cooldown fell from a hundred fifty seconds to a hundred twenty. Rampart builds hop-up progress fifty percent faster, with Sheila's movement speed climbing from seventy to a hundred four. Valkyrie's tactical damage dropped from twenty-five to fifteen, and Axle's slide boost is capped at three seconds with a bad ultimate now damaging and stunning him.
Skip the Trial and Error on the New Meta
Reading which nerfs and buffs actually move the needle takes reps most solo players don't have time to log. A GG Clan Pro who's already run Loba and Rampart in Ranked this split can hand you the rotations these buffs unlock, instead of finding them the slow way over fifty matches.
Corrupted Attachments and the Energy Overhaul Changed Your Loadout
Two systems shifted at once, and most Ranked players are still running last split's habits. Five new Corrupted Attachments, including the Overflowing Magazine and the Headseeker Barrel, trade a stat boost for a real downside, so equipping one is a decision, not an automatic upgrade. Energy weapons lost their ammo boxes entirely. Every energy weapon now regenerates its stockpile roughly every eighteen seconds, tracked through a new HUD readout, making them worth holding as a primary again instead of a backup you drop for kinetic ammo.
Learn Your Regen Window Before You Queue
Spend ten minutes in the firing range before your next Ranked queue testing one energy weapon against the new regen timer. Knowing how long you can hold a fight before your mag empties changes whether you push a box fight or back off it.
Read the Tradeoff Before You Equip
Corrupted Attachments show a clear tradeoff before you equip them, and it pays to read it every time. A Rapid Sniper Stock that speeds up your reload can also strip the stability you were counting on for a long-range fight.
What a Battle Pass Split Actually Resets
A split is not a new season. It's a mid-season checkpoint: a fresh pass track, a round of balance tuning, and on World's Edge, real map changes, including a returned Sorting Factory and a Landslide merged into Big Maude. None of that resets your rank. It resets the map knowledge and legend picks everyone else in your lobby is still catching up on, and that gap is the opportunity.
