Two days into Early Access and the M4 is already the rifle every lobby defaults to. That is not hype. It is the safest weapon in the build menu, and the best M4 loadout Modern Warfare 4 has produced so far leans on recoil control and damage range over raw fire rate. Here is the build, the reasoning behind every slot, and the class that carries it.
This Build Is Tuned for Beta 6v6, Not Warzone
Everything below runs through the 6v6 core lens. The beta ships Team Deathmatch, Domination, Hardpoint, Kill Confirmed, Search and Destroy, 10v10 and 3v3 Gunfight. No Ranked ladder yet, and that does not make it a throwaway weekend. The habits you build on Rooftops arrive with you the day the ladder opens.
The Best M4 Loadout Modern Warfare 4 Beta Players Are Running
Five slots. Every one buys you either bullets on target or a faster first shot.
FSS IS300 suppressor. Off the minimap, longer damage range, more bullet velocity, less ADS gun kick. Four favours, one slot.
FT Cannonade 7 inch heavy short barrel. Tightens the damage profile without gutting your handling.
FSS TAC90 Grip. Aiming stability. This slot turns a controllable rifle into a tracking rifle past 40 metres.
SZ Gen.6 PEQ laser. ADS and sprint to fire speed, paying back the M4's one real debt.
Slimline Elite Mini Reflex. A clean sight picture without the bulk a larger optic drags into a close fight.
Build the Recoil Slots First
Run the suppressor, barrel and grip before you touch the laser or optic. Recoil control wins the 40 metre lane fights this beta keeps forcing on you, and mobility attachments cannot rescue a build that sprays off target. Add speed last, once the gun holds a straight line under sustained fire.
Meta in Flux, and Anyone Declaring Otherwise Is Guessing
Early Access opened on 21 August. That is nowhere near enough live play for a locked meta, and this post will not pretend otherwise. What the sandbox shows is direction: the M4 has low recoil, clean handling and no dead range bracket, which makes it the safest first pick while everything settles. Treat that as a read, not a verdict.
Beta Weekend Timeline
Weekend One is Early Access and runs 21 to 25 August for pre order players. Weekend Two is the free Open Beta from 28 August to 1 September on every platform. Weapon tuning between weekends is standard, so re verify this build when Weekend Two lands.
Recoil Control Beats Raw Damage in These Lobbies
Two sandbox changes rewrite how you read attachments this year. Bloom is gone from hipfire, so close trades reward centring over luck. Weapon and environment now share one field of view, killing the visual disconnect when you ADS down a long sightline.
Both changes pay the player who keeps rounds on target. That is what this build buys. You are not chasing a faster time to kill on paper. You are buying the rifle that delivers that TTK when someone strafes.
Test the Class on the Mobility Course
Take the finished class into the Mobility Course before you queue. Fire ten controlled bursts at a fixed point, then ten more while strafing. If the second group opens up wider, your grip and laser choices fight your sensitivity. Fix the class, not your aim.
Background: Why the M4 Is the Safest First Pick
The M4 is the franchise reference rifle. Every year it lands near the centre of the assault rifle sandbox: no standout stat, no glaring hole, and a handling profile that travels across the whole map pool.
That neutrality is the point during a beta. Extreme weapons get tuned hardest between weekends. The reference rifle rarely moves, so the recoil pattern you learn survives launch.
The Universal Class That Carries the Rifle
The rifle is one part of the class. The rest decides whether you get to use it.
Run a movement forward perk package. The new mantle chain rewards players who climb and reposition without losing tempo, and a heavy class wastes that traversal.
Tactical: stun. The M4 wins committed head on trades, and a stun turns a coin flip into a free frag on a hardpoint hill.
Lethal: frag. The cleanest zone denial on Search and Destroy plants.
Field upgrade: anything that protects a hold. The moment your anchor point reads obvious, you need a tool that buys a second look.
Where a Pro Session Saves You a Weekend
Attachment lists are the commodity part of this. Nobody hands you the map of which sightline your rifle owns and which one it loses. GG Clan's ranked specialists have been in these lobbies since Friday, and one live session locks your engagement distances.
