FC 27 The Grounds Archetypes Update: What Costs More Now

EA reworked Archetype AP costs and reset your allocation. Know which attributes got pricier before you rebuild your Pro and queue.

The FC 27 The Grounds Archetypes update changes what every build costs, and it lands by Thursday, October 22 at 2:00am Pacific. EA found misclassified Attributes, repriced them, and reset Archetype AP allocation. If you queue on your old spread, you are paying for a build that no longer exists. Here is what EA confirmed, what it means for your Pro, and how competitive players should rebuild.

What EA Confirmed In The FC 27 The Grounds Archetypes Update

EA says the Archetype system exists to give your Pro distinct Attribute and PlayStyle routes that fit how you play. The update adjusts Attribute Point costs because some Attributes were misclassified, and that misclassification skewed what builds cost.

The roster covers all four lines. Goalkeepers run Shot Stopper or Sweeper Keeper. Defenders choose Progressor, Boss or Marauder. Midfielders pick Disruptor, Recycler, Maestro or Creator. Attackers pick Spark, Magician, Finisher or Target.

All 13 Archetypes have at least one Attribute that costs more.

Confirmed Changes At A Glance

Confirmed by EA: AP costs are adjusted across all 13 Archetypes. Attacking Positioning is no longer required for Archetype Specializations. Archetype AP is reset, and you keep your level and total AP per Archetype. Deployment targets Thursday, October 22 at 2:00am Pacific.

Which Archetypes Took The Biggest Cost Hit

Count the changes and a pattern shows. Finisher sees six Attributes cost more and four cost less, the largest swing of any Archetype. Maestro, Recycler, Creator, Spark, Magician, Target and Sweeper Keeper each see five Attributes go up.

Boss is the quiet case: three increases, zero decreases. Nothing got cheaper for you.

EA has not published every individual cost in the post, so do not assume which exact Attributes moved. Open the in-game screen and read your own numbers before you spend a point.

Record Your Old Build Before Patch Day

Screenshot your current AP spread before the reset lands. Compare it with the repriced screen so you see which Attributes you overpaid for, then rebuild around the ones that now give you the most per point.

Attacking Positioning Is No Longer A Requirement

Archetype Specializations no longer demand Attacking Positioning. That removes a forced tax on your AP and opens real flexibility in where points go.

That freed AP now buys something you choose. Decide first whether you want finishing, passing range or pace, then spend.

Here is the part most players miss: flexibility punishes indecision. A build with no plan wastes the exact freedom EA handed you.

READY TO RANK UP

Rebuild With A Verified Pro

A top-1% FC Pro reviews your Archetype choices live and shows how to spend AP for the matchups you actually face in ranked.

The AP Reset Means Every Competitive Player Rebuilds

You keep each Archetype's level and total AP, but you must redistribute across Attributes. Your level is safe. Your spread is not.

Players who already created a Pro receive 5,000 Club Coins and one 1.75x AXP Multiplier lasting 6 matches. Use that multiplier on your first matches after the rebuild, because it speeds the climb back to full strength.

Skip The Trial Period

GG Clan's FC Pros rebuild their own Pros on patch day and adjust after the first matches. A live session gives you their reads on Archetype selection, in-match adaptation and a review of your Grounds games, so you skip the weeks of trial and error.

How Pro Players Approach A Reset

Top players do not chase every cheaper Attribute. They ask which Attributes decide the fights they lose most, then pay for those first.

Pick the Archetype that matches your tactical habits, not the one a clip made look strong. Treat the first week as testing, not a final build.

Let Five Matches Tell You Where AP Goes

After each of your first five matches, write down the single Attribute you wished was higher. The pattern across those notes tells you where to move AP, instead of guessing from highlights.

What Is Confirmed And What Is Still Opinion

EA confirmed the cost changes, the reset, the removed Attacking Positioning requirement and the compensation. Everything about which Archetype is strongest is early pro opinion, not fact.

EA did not publish every per-Attribute cost, so any tier list with precise numbers is guessing.
