Hajin opened on October 20, and MW4 DMZ crafting is already splitting squads in two. One group sweeps every container, walks out heavy and loses the lot on the first bad fight. The other walks in knowing exactly which Ingredient the 3D Printer needs and extracts with it. Today's focus is DMZ: what feeds the Printer, where the rare inputs come from, and how to build every run around what you lack.
How MW4 DMZ Crafting Runs Through the 3D Printer
The 3D Printer is the primary crafting station at your Forward Operating Base, the hub where you offload loot, gear up and take your next Orders between deployments. Every craft starts here.
Recipes unlock two ways: through progression, and as finds out on deployment. That second route matters. A recipe you pull out of Hajin is progress you carry home, so a run that ends in extraction pays twice.
When you craft, you choose how many copies to print at once, then send them to your Stash or equip them directly to your Operator. Both the 3D Printer and the FOB take upgrades, so the base you start with is the floor, not the ceiling.
Batch What You Repeat
When a recipe proves itself on a run, batch several copies in one sitting. Equip one straight to your Operator and send the rest to Stash. Your squad spends its time in Hajin, not at the Printer.
The Four Resources Every Container Feeds
Looted items break down automatically into four core Resources: Synthetics, Electronics, Chemicals and Metals. They land in your Backpack and your Stash, which means the base layer of crafting builds itself as long as you keep opening containers.
Searching containers does more than fill the Printer. It supports marked Operations, earns DMZ XP and advances the FOB. Your Bank and Stash are also shared across your Active Duty Operators, so whatever one Operator brings home funds the other.
Here's the part most players miss. Core Resources come from almost everything, so they are rarely the bottleneck. The rare Ingredients are.
Scout on the Free Loadout
A Free Loadout is available on every deployment. When the run is about finding a specific Ingredient, deploy on it and keep your crafted kit in the Stash for the runs that demand a full fight. Losing a Free Loadout costs you nothing your Printer built.
Rare Ingredients Decide Your Route
Above the four Resources sit the rarer 3D Printer Ingredients: Binding Catalyst, Biomaterials, Detonators and Control Units. Activision's guidance is that these come from specific areas of Hajin, and that single line changes how you plan a deployment.
Treat crafting as a squad economy. Before infil, look at what your Printer is short of, lock one Ingredient as the target, and route toward the part of Hajin that holds it. Take the containers on that line and leave the rest. Early community reports point to police stations for tactical gear, hospitals for medical supplies and residential areas for crafting materials, but treat those as reported reads, not confirmed spawns.
Reported landmarks include an irradiated reactor, a prison complex, the ruins of Hajin City and a military base.
Call One Ingredient Per Deployment
Call the target Ingredient in the lobby, before anyone drops. One name, one route, one exfil. A squad that agrees on the goal stops arguing over every container and extracts while the hoarders are still searching.
Meta in Flux: What Launch Week Tells You
Meta in flux. DMZ is days old, so nobody has settled which recipes earn their cost or which zones hold each Ingredient. We're giving you the read, not the result.
What is confirmed is that crafting ties into your Operator build. The Scout Trait tree includes Extra Container Loot, Extra Loot from Hostiles, AI Drop Rare Loot and Field Crafting. The effects are not yet detailed, but the names mark Scout as the looting and crafting tree.
Dynamic Operations add another source: complete the objectives and call in a Supply Drop with unpredictable loot when your target Ingredient refuses to show.
Loot With an Extraction Specialist
GG Clan's verified extraction specialists run every deployment with a resource target from the first minute. A live lobby session teaches your squad to loot with a plan, cut the dead time between containers and reach exfil before a full backpack turns into a lost one.
Background: Why Extraction Feeds the Printer
DMZ runs solo or in a squad, across Story Missions, Dynamic Operations and Free Roam. You hold two Active Duty Operator slots, with a third unlocked through DMZ Player Levels.
An Operator who goes MIA can be recovered with DMZ Cash, and the cost rises with the Traits you have invested. They keep their Traits but lose their gear. That is the real price of looting everything: a full backpack you never extract is crafting progress handed to Hajin.
Prestige raises the stakes again. It needs 18 Trait Points, DMZ Cash and a collection of rare gear, and it wipes your Backpack. The Printer is how that rare gear gets built.
