VALORANT Patch 13.06 rewrote the competitive tier list, and it didn't wait for you to catch up. Agent buffs and nerfs are reshuffling which picks win rounds, weapon tuning changed how gunfights resolve at high ELO, and ranked comps this week look nothing like last patch's. Queue in running last patch's picks and you're playing a game that no longer exists.
Raze's Blast Pack Takes a Real Hit
Raze built her ranked dominance on aggressive entry damage, and Patch 13.06 pulls that lever back hard. Blast Pack now carries a heavier self-damage penalty on point-blank detonations, and the knockback on a full-charge jump takes a real cut. The self-boost that used to clear an angle for free now costs real HP the moment the fight starts.
At high ELO, that changes the math on every entry. A Raze who used to eat the first bullet and still win the trade now commits with less margin for error, and agents who punish a sloppy entry, Cypher's trip alarms, Killjoy's turret, Sova's dart, get more room to work.
Recalibrate Your Blast Pack Usage
Stop using Blast Pack as a free heal-and-engage tool. Save the self-boost for rotations and flank denial, not point-blank entries, and check for a trip alarm or turret line before you commit. The habit that won you rounds last patch is the habit that gets you punished this patch.
Fade Becomes the Initiator You Can't Leave Out
Fade picked up the opposite treatment. Her Haunt cooldown drops, and Prowler's seek radius widens enough that a single cast now clears a corner that used to need two agents to check. That's a direct buff to her solo-info ceiling, and solo info wins mid-round reads in a five-stack that isn't running comms.
The tier list reaction has been immediate. Teams that benched Fade for a second duelist last patch are back to running her as the default Initiator, because the info she generates closes the gap between spotting the enemy and using it in time.
GG Clan Pros Already Run This Timing
Knowing Fade got buffed isn't the same as knowing when to cast Haunt for value. A GG Clan Pro running IGL in your lobby calls that timing live, the same read they use in their own ranked climb.
VALORANT Patch 13.06 Weapon Tuning Rewrites High-ELO Gunfights
Two weapons moved enough to change force-buy decisions at every rank. The Guardian's fire rate goes up, turning it back into a legitimate one-tap rifle and a real Vandal alternative on a half-buy round. The Judge's pellet spread gets tighter at range, so the close-range panic buy that used to bail out a bad read now whiffs more.
Those two changes push economy rounds toward precision over spray. A team that force-bought Judges to trade on volume is trading less, and a team saving for a Guardian finally has a real weapon to save for.
Guardian & Judge Tuning
Guardian: fire rate increased, base damage unchanged. Judge: pellet spread tightened at mid-range, close-range one-shot distance reduced. Both apply across every Competitive and ranked queue this patch.
Team Comps Are Already Shifting Around the Changes
Put the agent and weapon changes together and the comp meta moves with them. Double-Initiator drafts, Fade paired with Sova or KAY/O, show up more often now because the info advantage compounds: two sources of hard info make the post-plant read almost automatic, and that's worth more right now than a second aggressive duelist.
Raze-Jett double-duelist stacks, the default aggressive comp for most of last patch, are losing ground. The self-damage penalty on Raze punishes the exact playstyle that comp depended on, and teams that haven't rebuilt their draft around it are dropping close rounds they used to win clean.
Draft Around Info, Not Only Aggression
Before you lock your fifth pick this patch, ask whether your comp has two real sources of hard info. If it doesn't, you're playing last patch's draft against this patch's meta, and that gap shows when the round matters most.
What Patch 13.06 Is Actually Targeting
Riot's balance philosophy this patch is straightforward: pull power away from low-risk aggression and hand it to agents who reward information and coordination. Raze's self-damage penalty and the Judge's tightened spread both target picks that force a fight with little downside. Fade's buff and the Guardian's fire rate increase reward the opposite: reads that take timing and precision.
Patch 13.06 also ships the new Agent Mastery system and introduces Warden to the roster, though that's a breakdown for another day. The meta impact for ranked players starts with the changes above, and it starts now.
